Guidelines for Zuzu Members

Zuzu is an open community of learners (typically Children aged 2-18), parents and teachers. Our common goal is to enable children to learn unboundedly and grow holistically. Our classes are offered by independent teachers, who determine the content and format of their own classes.

Having an open community is powerful but also brings its set of challenges and Zuzu wants to create a safe space for all of its members.  Our members should treat each other without bias or prejudice across all pillars of diversity including, but not limited to, race, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, religion, and gender identity.  Here are some guidelines that we ask our members to observe. Zuzu members who do not meet these guidelines will be removed from the platform.

Teacher Code of Conduct

  1. Only offer classes where you have the appropriate background and expertise. Do not mislead Zuzu staff or parents regarding the same.
  2. Teach classes professionally: be prepared, begin on-time, and treat all learners with respect.
  3. Do not teach while impaired by alcohol or drugs.
  4. Do not encourage or model any kind of illegal or restrictive behavior for kids.
  5. Respond promptly to parent questions and requests.
  6. Communicate with parents and learners in a professional manner, both in messages and in-class.
  7. Treat all members of the Zuzu community respectfully, including our staff.
  8. Adhere to our Teacher Social Media Policy by remaining thoughtful and professional online.
  9. Adhere to our class content policy by only offering secular, objective, and age-appropriate classes.
  10. Create a safe and welcoming space for learners and families from all backgrounds, beliefs, and locations.

Parent Code of Conduct

  1. Clarify any missing details about classes from the teachers.
  2. Show up for the booked class. Some classes may require group interaction and the class may lose value if students skip on these classes.
  3. Provide constructive feedback about your class experience. This will benefit the teacher, other parents, and the Zuzu platform as well.
  4. Engage in civil conversation, and speak and act with respect for different opinions.
  5. Help keep Zuzu a safe space for learners, families, teachers, and our staff from all backgrounds, beliefs, and locations.

Learner Code of Conduct

  1. Join class on time and be ready to learn.
  2. Dress appropriately to help create a safe and comfortable environment for all learners and the teacher. Always show up for class fully clothed.
  3. Treat the teacher and your classmates with respect.
  4. Participate in class, stay on topic, and avoid distractions. This will ensure a great learning experience for everyone involved.
  5. Keep your personal information private and don't ask others to share personal information (e.g., email address, house address, phone number, gamer tags, etc.).

Zuzu Code of Conduct

  1. We welcome members from all backgrounds, beliefs, and locations and are committed to creating a safe space for our users across all pillars of diversity.
  2. We will listen to feedback from parents, teachers, and learners, and make changes accordingly.
  3. We will create and enforce policies to create a high quality, trusted, and safe community for learning. This may include removing content or users from the platform.
  4. We will respond as promptly as possible to questions and issues that arise. We appreciate your patience

Finally, we ask that all members assume the best intentions in others.  When something goes wrong, whether it's a technical glitch, an email without a response, or something else, we ask that your share feedback in a constructive way.
