Zuzu classes should be objective, secular, and age-appropriate. We have adopted this policy so that Zuzu classes can be relevant to a broad audience, and so parents and their children can participate in any Zuzu class knowing they will not be subjected to a teacher's personal religious or political beliefs, or other objectionable content.
Classes should be secular
- Present facts, ideas, and theories that are based on science and widely accepted by experts in the respective field.
- Classes may need to address religion (example - in history). It's important to teach about religion, but to not promote or advocate a particular religious worldview.
Classes should be objective and accurate
Classes should be based on evidence and facts.
To the extent possible, acknowledge and present multiple viewpoints on historical, social, and political issues.
Classes should take an unbiased approach.
Do not use these classes to propogate personal viewpoints about sensitive issues.
Do not sensationalize your content. Classes should not forgo accuracy to evoke an emotional response.
If students ask questions about a teacher's personal viewpoints, to the extent possible, you should give answers that still allow students to form their own opinion without being biased by your personal viewpoints.
Classes should be age-appropriate
- If there is any content or material that may be disturbing to a child must be clearly outlined in the class description.
- Content that may be objectionable to parents should be clearly outlined. For example, if your topics cover violence, sexuality, or sensitive political questions, that has to be highlighted so that parents can make an informed decision
Zuzu classes may not promote discrimination, hate speech, or violence. Zuzu welcomes a diverse set of learners, families, and teachers; this includes, but is not limited to, race, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, religion.
Teachers and classes that do not abide by these standards will be removed from Zuzu.
